Oropeza Folklórico Students Perform for Senior Community

Students from Oropeza Elementary School's Ballet Folklorico dance group

Several students from Oropeza Elementary School’s Ballet Folklórico dance group recently performed for senior residents at an assisted living facility in Long Beach to help spread holiday joy.

The students were welcomed with cheers and applause as they performed three traditional Mexican dances for residents and staff. Residents also received gloves and handmade holiday cards from the students.

“It was wonderful that they wanted to come out and entertain,” shared a resident. “We were really delighted to have them.”

Ballet Folklórico, also known as traditional Mexican folk dancing, highlights Mexican cultures through dance, music and costumes. Many schools across the Long Beach Unified School District offer Ballet Folklorico dance programs for its students.
